Our guest tutors provide expert courses on a wide range of garden topics, from turning your garden design hobby into a career, to pruning roses and garden photography.

Every course includes lunch at the local pub with the guest tutor, plus refreshments and homemade cake will be available throughout the day.

Walls, fences and other vertical spaces are wonderful for displaying a range of plants, but are you making the most of these possibilities?

Plantsman Matt Biggs will explore the best climbers for all locations, from shady north walls to sun-baked fences. He will discuss methods of support, from trellis to straining wires and consider the key points for planting.

As well as garden favourites such as roses and clematis, Matt will also share his thoughts on fantastic climbers that should be grown more often.

The key to good gardening is putting the right plant in the right place, but some locations are trickier than others.

Join Matt for a day of exciting plant ideas for any situation. He will focus on a range of different locations from dry shade and narrow borders, to boggy hollows and windy coastal spots.

As well as the perfect plants, he will also share advice on how to improve your growing conditions.

A day filled with planting solutions that prove there is no such thing as a difficult location.

Plant Pests And Diseases

Pests and diseases are a gardener’s worst nightmare. They can often be hard to identify or the signs could be a number of different problems.

Join plant pest and disease expert Pippa Greenwood and learn everything a gardener needs to know about pests and diseases.

The day will contain information and anecdotes on identification, including the effects various pest and diseases have, how they spread and how to tell which are more serious than others. Pippa will talk though how to prevent and cure pests and diseases, and share the best options for chemical-free gardening.

Time will be spent in the classroom, as well as outside in the garden. You are welcome to bring along small samples of plant material for Pippa to have a look at too.

Plant And Garden Photography

Join award-winning photographer Jason Ingram for a practical day learning how to improve your garden photography.

He will explain his own techniques to achieving beautiful images, and while walking around Adam’s garden, will reveal the tricks and pieces of kit he couldn’t work without.

Later in the day you will have time to practice your photography skills.

Finally, everyone will share their favourite photo from the day with further advice and tips from Jason.

This course is aimed at anyone with some familiarity using an SLR camera. Please bring along your camera, tripod, spare memory card and batteries.

Rose Day

A day dedicated to the wonderful world of roses.

Michael will explore and explain the different types of rose and reveal his all-time favourites for different situations. He will give advice on how they can be used in the garden, from sprawling ramblers over archways, to the ruffled blooms of old cultivars in borders. He will also share design tips on fantastic planting combinations that you can try at home.

The day would not be complete with out exploring their heady fragrance and Michael will discuss the best roses to fill your garden with scent.

A perfect course if you love roses and want to grow more in your own garden.The day will be filled with advice on rose care, and will surely be a great celebration of one of our garden favourites.
