Wood and Stone
Adam has a passion for materials, which he believes is in the main has been driven by his dad’s obsession with geology and stone. He taught Adam how to use a hammer and chisel to carve stone when he was around 8 years old and he has been fascinated ever since. These pieces represent work Adam and some of his mates have created throughout his career, with different textures, finishes, colours and forms that appeal to him.
Growing up he also enjoyed finding pieces of wood in his grandparents’ sheds and knocking them together to make shapes and objects. He explains that he has always loved finding ways to craft and personalise materials as a way of making a connection and bringing a sense of belonging. Most of the stuff I do is relatively simple, it’s not complicated.
These images include examples of things he’s made and finishes on materials that he’s drawn to.
